I met Pierre at Children’s Hospital Oakland on the day he diagnosed himself with cancer and feel fortunate to have been part of his journey. He taught me how to be a better doctor and to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Carolyn received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley and then attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. She completed her residency and fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and has been working at the Oakland campus for 25 years.

Carolyn was Pierre’s very first Hematologist-Oncologist and did all of Pierre’s diagnostic biopsies during his first week in the hospital. Carolyn became a Schreyer family friend and confidant. She was always there for the family throughout Pierre’s fight.

Carolyn is married with three children (21, 20, 15) and has two cats. She enjoys time out with family and friends, long walks, riding her bike to work, Sunday crossword puzzles, watching Top Chef and eating good food. “I met Pierre at Children’s Hospital Oakland on the day he diagnosed himself with cancer and feel fortunate to have been part of his journey.
